BIOGRAPHIE

Barbara Ottevaere est une artiste visuelle franco-belge-canadienne qui vit et travaille à Montréal Tiohtià:ke. En 2023, elle complété un baccalauréat aux Beaux-Arts de l’Université Concordia avec la mention ‘Great Distinction’. Elle fut récipiendaire du prix d’excellence Irene F. Whittome Prize in Studio Arts en 2024.

Si elle fait de fréquentes incursions du côté du papier et du carton, la céramique est le coeur de son art. Ses œuvres ont été sélectionnées par plusieurs jurys et présentées lors d’expositions collectives à Montréal et dans les Laurentides. Ses créations ont été exposées dans les galeries 1040, Jano Lapin, Fais-moi l’art, La VAV, Erga, David Levine, JMC Art Contemporain et Option Céramique. En octobre 2024, Barbara Ottevaere a présenté une sélection de ses sculptures à la place Ville Marie de Montréal à l’occasion du festival d’art émergent Artch. Ses collages et photographies ont également été publiés dans des magazines.

Ses œuvres font partie de collections privées au Canada, en France, en Angleterre et aux États-Unis.

BIOGRAPHY

Barbara Ottevaere is a French Belgian Canadian visual artist who lives and works in Montreal Tiohtià:ke. She graduated with “Great Distinction” from Concordia University in 2023 with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree. She was awarded the Irene F. Whittome Prize in Studio Arts in 2024.

While she frequently works with paper and cardboard, ceramics is at the core of her art. Her works have been selected by several juries and presented in group exhibitions in Montreal and the Laurentides. Her creations have been exhibited in galleries 1040, Jano Lapin, Fais-moi l’art, The VAV, Erga, David Levine, JMC Art Contemporain, and Option Céramique. In October 2024, Barbara Ottevaere presented a selection of her sculptures at Place Ville Marie in Montreal as part of the Artch festival for emerging artists. Her collages and photographs have also been published in magazines.

Her artworks are included in private collections in Canada, France, England, and the United States.
